Today we had the privilege of visiting Paraíso de Bambú y Guadua, an inspiring farm and living laboratory dedicated to the cultivation and preservation of bamboo species from around the world. www.bambuturismo.com
Even more inspiring was the conversation led by its founder, Ximena Londoño — a visionary who has spent her life studying, growing, and advocating for bamboo. We explored the incredible diversity of bamboo (yes, some species are edible!), its ecological potential, and the often-overlooked role of wetlands in sustaining healthy landscapes.
Ximena also opened up about the realities of running a farm today — from climate uncertainty to labor shortages and navigating environmental regulation. It was a powerful reminder that sustainable farming requires both science and heart.
If you’re ever in Quindío, this is a place worth visiting — for its natural beauty, but even more for the depth of knowledge shared here.
