César Mantilla Presents Research on Water Distribution Rights at the ESA Africa Meeting

On 15 June in Rabat, Morocco, César Mantilla presented the paper “Voting on Water Distribution Rights Under Scarcity: Experimental Evidence” at the ESA Africa Meeting.

Co-authored with Juliane Koch, Andrés Palacio, and Sebastián Suárez Lee, the study uses experimental methods to examine how communities make collective decisions about water allocation under conditions of scarcity. The research sheds light on the role of voting mechanisms in shaping resource distribution and contributes to ongoing discussions on water governance and the management of common-pool resources.

The presentation generated valuable discussions on institutional design, collective decision-making, and sustainable resource governance in water-scarce environments.
