From Water Access to Ecological Well-Being: Rethinking Water Justice in Colombia
Andrés Palacio participated in the Lund University workshop “Water justice – whose needs are filled, whose voices are heard, who are affected by the consequences?”, alongside scholars Edyta Roszko and Johanna Ohlsson.
The event was organized by Ylva van Meeningen from Lund University’s Agenda 2030 Graduate School, bringing together scholars from different disciplines to explore water justice from the perspectives of human rights, environmental change, inequality, and sustainability.
Andrés presented “Rethinking water justice: from water access to ecological well-being in Colombia,” highlighting the importance of moving beyond water access alone to understand how water governance, ecosystems, human well-being, and inequalities are interconnected. The discussion connects closely with the SURCO project’s work on water justice and the interconnections between climate change, water scarcity, and biodiversity loss in rural Colombia.
