We’re still excited to have welcomed Montserrat Lopez Jerez (University of St Andrews) to the Development Research Seminars at Lund University School of Economics and Management (Department of Economic History).
Montserrat presented her joint work with Kimberly Montañez-Medina and Andrés Palacio: "A Water-Centric Vulnerability Framework for Colombia: Coupling the Economy and Environment" — a timely contribution within the ongoing SURCO PROJECT. That paper will be part of the coming session “Collective action in local common-pool resources: water crises from a global economic historical perspective” in Lund's World Economic History Congress 2025.
Montserrat's presentation sparked insightful questions, highlighting the importance of placing water within a broader historical context, alongside land, forests, and the often invisible ecosystem services sustaining local and global commons.
