In the face of climate change and ecosystems degradation globally, human rights law and international solidarity have key role to play in shaping a green and resilient future in an interconnected world. Access rights including public participation is key for environmental democracy and for green transitions to be just. The objectives of this workshop are to:
Deliberate on the critical role of public participation in environmental decision-making in the context of the mining sector.
Discuss strategies to implement international human rights, the Aarhus Convention and EU law in an integrated way to contribute to just transitions internationally.
Receive inputs for the model guidelines on public participation in environmental decision-making in the context of the mining and other extractive industries
