On January 22 and 23, the SURCO project team, in collaboration with Professor César Mantilla, conducted a pilot of economic experiments with Wayúu communities in the surroundings of Manaure (La Guajira).
These experiments aim to explore the motivations, beliefs, and collective decision-making processes that influence the selection of norms for water distribution during periods of extreme scarcity. Through participatory methodologies and experimental economics tools, the project seeks to understand how communities cope with water shortages and which principles guide their agreements regarding the use and allocation of this vital resource.
The results of the pilot will allow for adjustments to the methodological design of the experiments and will strengthen fieldwork in the subsequent phases of the project, contributing to the analysis of water governance and community resilience in contexts of high climate vulnerability.
